Here's a rundown of the three things to steer clear of on your next trip:
Tap Water (Including Coffee and Tea)
Avoid drinking any beverages made with tap water from the airplane's water tanks. If you need a caffeine boost, ask for a can of Coke or Pepsi instead. To be extra safe, buy your coffee in the terminal. And watch out for water pitchers in economy class - they're also from the water tanks.
Gas-Inducing Foods
High air pressure can disrupt your stomach, making you feel bloated and uncomfortable. To avoid this, steer clear of foods that are known to cause bloating like onion, kale, beans, red meat, lentils, gluten, and broccoli. Also, avoid carbonated drinks that can lead to an upset stomach in the air.
Bloody Marys
Bloody Marys may taste better in the sky, but they're high in sodium content, which can cause bloating and dehydration. Instead, drink more water to combat the sodium and rehydrate your body. It's best to alternate between these drinks and water for the comfort of everyone on the flight.
